Saab Key Programming
Saab cars made from 1994 have an immobilizer system that is based on key codes. The addition of a key requires the purchase of a new transponder as well as special programming. This is usually done by the dealer, using a specially-designed Tech2 diagnostic tool.
It can be costly. This is the reason why you should always keep a spare key in your possession.
Transponder key
The transponder key comes equipped with an electronic chip. It sends a signal back to the car when it is placed in the ignition. The car then checks the signal to determine whether it is the same as the one on the key. If the signals match the car will then open and start. This is a great way to deter auto theft and keep your car safe from thieves.
Transponder keys are a common feature in cars, but it is important to know that they're not as secure as classic metal keys. The next step is connecting the wires for columns and row to your microcontroller. This is the toughest part of the project and it will require lots of soldering. It's not a standard way to do it, but you must think about how to route and connect each column and row. For this keyboard, there are five rows and 17 columns, so there will be 22 microcontroller wires and pins to connect.
After the rows and column are joined after which it is time to connect the key switches. To do this, put a diode across each pin on the key switch and solder it. This will shield the pins that are used for key switches from current and keep them from being shorted. A diode can only allow current to flow in one direction, and it comes with a a black band visual indicator that indicates which way the current will flow.

The tools plug into the OBD port and automatically guide the customer through the procedure, making it simpler than replacing the computer in the vehicle.
Jump starting the battery
The majority of people have a set in their trunks to jump start a car in case of emergency, but it may not be the best idea for cars with more modern technology. These vehicles are equipped with a number of digital and computer systems that communicate with each other. A surge in voltage when a battery is connected to another battery could damage the components making your car unusable.
Start the working vehicle and allow it to run for approximately two minutes before connecting the cables to the non-working one. Attach the red clip to the positive terminal on the good battery (it will have "POS" or "+" on it). Attach the other end of the black cable to a clean, unpainted metal surface under the disabled car's hood. The engine block would be a good option. Do not connect the black cable to the negative terminal on the dead battery, as it could spark an ignition spark that ignites the gasoline in the engine bay.
After the cables have been connected, you should start the vehicle and let it run about five minutes. Then, disconnect them in reverse. Be aware that the battery in the Saab 9-3 gets recharged when you drive, and it can take a while to get the battery back to its original level. It's a good idea to purchase a spare fob as soon as you can, because replacing the only working one requires the installation of a new computer module and special programming to convince it that your lost keys aren't attempting to steal the car.
Replacement case
Saab owners usually only have one car key, and if that is lost, they will be charged. It's costly to add keys and will require replacing the CIM or TWICE in the case of older models. It's best to have a spare key in case of theft or any other catastrophe and the most effective way is to purchase an extra key as soon as you can. Don't buy a secondhand key even it's "new." Keys that are claimed-new from sellers selling aftermarket keys won't work and are likely to fail at the critical moment.
The dealer will charge the highest dollar if you have only one working key. We can, however, reset and re-program your computer's EEPROM to accept the new key without having to replace the whole system. This could save you a great deal of money. It's also much less expensive than waiting until you lose your sole key.
